Saturday is snow day

We didn't have a ton of snow, but we had enough. The kids had a blast as Dad would drive and Grandpa (me) would sit on the tailgate to make sure things were cool. (its what grandparents do ya know)
We drove about 5 miles in all, towing one or both the kids. I even went for a ride, showed them that Grandpa still has skillz man, I even popped a wheelie or two. Melissa as always had the funniest thing to say. "I'm not scared, just a little freaked out." Gabe was a good sport and let her do the last streatch of the road. He takes such good care of her. He makes me proud every day.

Release the Kraken

Just a quick post this morning. So last night my daughter and I were informed someone was up on the counter getting something to eat. Now you know we just had to investigate! In the kitchen we found non other than Melissa sitting on the counter eating a gram cracker. I informed her that that was my cracker and I wanted it back! She just got this evil look on her face with a slight grin and proceeded to lick the length of the cracker nice and slow.... That child is a hoot.

Day One, The Adventure begins

I am a 57 year old Grandparent, I have lived too far away from my grandkids for far to long. Well as of yesterday that has changed. I now live with two of the best kids EVER! (Their parents arn't half bad either, but they are adualts and not grandparents so they really don't count.) I arrived here in this small town in the afternoon. My son in-law and Grandson had come down to Bend, Oregon and hauled me and my things up to their home in Washington. We had unloaded the truck by the time my granddaoughter had finished her movie and could bother with us adaults.
Meet Melissa, Todays post is all about her (Like there was even a choice, you'll understand this more as time goes on) We were watching the football game when she made her intrance. It didn't take long for her to get going, not long after she came into the room I was made High King (well duh)
I always knew I was meant to rule! And the crown suits me right? When the game ended it was time for grandpa to see her room. Her mother wanted to show me the issue with her closet. For such a large house the closet space...SUCKS. But I have a few ideas that will help that out. Anyway back to the star of this post. Melissa desided I needed to have dinner at her restaurant. I had a lovely meal of Chicken, Grapes (which are a vegetable for your information. I was wrong all these years) and a pear. It was yummy of course.
After that large meal she wanted to do my nails. Now when a 5 year old granddaoughter asks if she can do her 57 year old Grandfathers nails...
Aren't they beautiful! Then we played ball and she showed me all her "things" She has a lot of "things" After the real dinner and a few minutes of adualt time I was beat and ready for bed. I had been up since 2am and had a long trip. So I went to my room and started to unppack a few things. Not long into the unpacking Meliisa came into the room. Not a real shock as I was now her new favorite toy. I had brought up some things that I had been gathering over the last couple years for the kids and she was watching very closely. I came upon a chewbacca doll I had picked up and she grabed it. I asked her if she liked the doll. She said "Yes" Iso I told her "Well then its yours" She looked at it for a second, tossed it back in the box and very politely said "No thank you"
Poor Chewy. And thats how the first day in my adventure in grandparenting went... Stay tuned I have no doubt there will be much more.
